The end of an era ……

Wow, already we have seen changes in what the birdhuulay students can achieve and that’s amazing as they’ve only been here for 2 weeks.

The students now walk up from Supported Play independently and wait on the wooden planks outside our room. We have begun to learn a dot to dot game on an online targeting math’s program and they are learning how to use a mouse to access the games themselves.

Our literacy focus was learning the sight words : this, is, a, my and how to independently write their name. We are working together to solve puzzles. We are taking turns to choose activities on the smart board and to be a leader.

Our numeracy focus was counting to 10 or 20, beginning to recognise dot patterns and counting objects using 1-1 correspondence.

We also conducted an experiement to see what happens to playdough when its left out in the sun as opposed to under a hat – the results are in and we’ve decided that everyone should wear a hat as the sun damages our skin.

We invited Kinder Mirigaan to our room to watch some literacy clips and we invited them another day to play with the parachute. All in all another great week and we’re hoping Lachlan is over the Chicken Pox and back with us next week.

Our school has researched into the most effective way to share our learning with our parents and it is via Instagram, rather than using our class blogs. Thank you to all our blog followers and we’ve appreciated your positive comments over the past 5 years.

From now on we will be posting photos ( hopefully daily) via our class Instagram account – we’d love it if you’d follow us by searching spps_birdhuulay so you can be amazed by what were doing each day and you have the option to like the posts or add comments. Feel free to pass this information onto extended family members the more people that can marvel at the students achievements the better.
