Week 5 seemed short and sweet …

Thanks goodness the weather was milder as lots of people at school joined in with short haircuts after our Shave for a Cure assembly.

Over the past week or so the boys have been trialling choosing which activities and in what order they do them during our morning literacy session. It is interesting to see some boys want a crunchy eyebrow moment and want to do all 15 activities whereas some are happy to do 8.

Our maths focus was data and interpreting graphs. Most of the boys researched different images for graphs to include technology in our maths focus. Most boys are getting very proficient at interpreting data in various types of graphs. Our literacy focus was to verbalise and justify an opinion and write a letter to Erin to persuade her to buy a dog from the pound rather than one from a pet shop. This culminated in editing their letter and typing it and inserting an image and then printing it to give to Erin. Most boys typed a letter to their parents to convince them to buy a pet, they inserted an image and then we saved the document.

It was Mr Wells last session with 1/2 China and the Tanzanian boys as Mrs Chalker went on maternity leave at the conclusion of the week. So he made it all about fun and drama. With Mrs Chalker, the boys drew a picture.

With Mrs Cooper, the boys looked at body joints and made a jointed puppet and looked at different movements for different situations. They danced to Dingle Dangle Scarecrow and Hokey Pokey, sent emails, looked at safe bikes and discussed the differences between bicycles and scooters.

This week the boys have learnt how to change the background of their computer. They also worked with Renée to type a sentence and choose an image to make a thankyou card for Mrs Chalker.
